Mission Statement

By using locally owned businesses we hope to help boost the local economy and promote sustainability in our event locations. All Runners and Volunteers are encouraged to participate in our extracurricular events, such as reforestation and clean water projects, trash-cleanups, school supply donations and our Kids Runs. These organized efforts promote local awareness of our planet as a natural resource that must be preserved and maintained.

Fuego y Agua gives back to the communities in a way that inspires me. Volcano Maderas and Volcan Conception were two of the biggest toughest climbs I have ever raced. Fuego y Agua challenged me in a way few races ever have.

Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua

**The Calzado Kids Run project has been retired, Fuego y Agua is refocusing its efforts on Isla de Ometepe toward providing School Supplies for the children of the island.

Portions of race entry costs and donations are used to host the Calzado Kids Run, a children’s race for local islanders. This event promotes running, fitness, healthy eating and awareness of the island as an endangered environment that must be cared for. All participants of Calzado Kids Run receive a bag of school supplies donated by supporters and participants of Fuego y Agua.

Our vision with Calzado Kids Run is to promote running, fitness, healthy eating and awareness of the island as an endangered environment that must be cared for.
